How it all started

Behind the Alice B collection. Alice B is my mother’s first name, Alice being her first name and B for her middle name which is Bathilia. My mother, a single mom who struggled to raise 5 children. Although she struggled, that didn't stop her from caring for other children besides her own. As a child growing up, I've seen my mother go through so much, good and a lot of bad. As a young girl watching my mom, I’ve noticed that even though she struggled, she didn’t allow hardship to harden her heart, which for a lot of single moms, that would have been the perfect option, to throw in the towel and walk away, that would have been the easier thing to do. My mother, despite what she was going through still found time to help others. I now understand, that was her release, her peace, her way of escape from her own day to day struggle. I remember my mother would always look after and care for many children. She would take us all to the park, movies, have birthday parties for kids who parents couldn’t afford it (like if we could). I remember home made everything!!! My mom made her own cakes, ice-cream, clothes etc., My mom did it all!! Our home was filled with many trinkets that my mom collected, one of her favorites to collect was jewelry! I remember pearls a lot of pearls different colors, shapes and sizes!! My mom was just an all-around SUPER MOM a mom to many, all that encountered her share the same testimony. The love she had for so many was absolutely amazing. My brother told me that he was standing outside of his job on a lunch break (I’m trying to hold back tears as I tell this part of the story, which is not working lol) he said that he saw a woman walking down the street, pushing a store shopping cart with what seemed to be all of her belongings. It appeared the woman had been strung out on drugs. He went on to say that the woman walked up to him, he thought that she was going to ask him for money (knowing my brother, I know that he wanted to run back in the building like some of us would lol) He said that the woman said hi to him, not only that the woman called my brother by his name! I can imagine my brother's face shocked by this!! wondering, how does this woman know me? Who is she? He said that the woman then asked him, “Don’t you remember me”? My brother said that that the woman looked so bad that he couldn’t recognize her, even if he did know her at some point in life. The woman started to tell him who she was and how they knew each other, she then said, “I remember when your mom would take me with you all to the park and movies, I would never forget those moments with her, how is she"? My brother told the woman that our mother was no longer with us. When the woman heard the news, she looked in disbelief and began walking away, pushing her cart and then started to say “God Bless her!! I loved that woman, I’ll never forget her.” Well, that's my story!! a little insight of my mom and the woman she was!! I’m grateful for the opportunity to share this inspiring story!! My mom is remembered and loved by so many!! The woman in this story, although was going through some rough times, she never forgot my mom, she never forgot that my mother loved her and cared for her. I am so proud to be the daughter of Alice B!!! I too have that same heart, love and compassion for others, I definitely get it from my mama! I have a passion to help others. to see families happy! I am so honored to be able to continue in the legacy through the Alice B. Collection!! I’m asking everyone to support and partner up with Alice B collection.
